Lord of the Books: Return of the Worm!

In March this year, I published Harry Potter may have Avada Kedavra-ed my Love for Reading!, a long post explaining how, over the years, the Harry Potter series may have killed my once-obsessive reading habit. Just over four months later, I am happy to report that I am back to almost-obsessive reading again! :)

I spent the summer volunteering at a village school as a teacher and was hosted by the family running the school. The Haji cottage had an impressive collection of books covering a wide range of topics. The village – Breswana – being so halcyon and serene, I was drawn to spending most of the time outdoors and/or reading, as opposed to watching television or sleeping, during my free hours.

Also, I had always tended to prefer fiction to non-fiction books. Now, I’m almost exclusively interested in non-fiction books. These are some of the books I’ve read in the last few months:

9. Troubled Periphery: Crisis of India’s North East – Subir Bhaumik

10. The Sense of an Ending – Julian Barnes

11. To Sir, With Love – E. R. Braithwaite

12. The Daughters of Cain – Colin Dexter

13. Sifting through the madness for the word, the line, the way – Charles Bukowski

14. A Tangled Web: Jammu & Kashmir (Ira Pandey)

And, I was gifted Basharat Peer’s Curfewed Night. I also bought the following books a couple of days ago:
