Show And Tell SATurday – 3 (Unusual)

As I was browsing through my limited picture archives on Bella (my laptop), I found quite a few that were unusual, the theme this week. I thought this was the most apt of them all.

It does strike one as unusual at first glance, yes? :) This isn’t a picture taken by me. I wish it were, this is weirdly beautiful, I feel! :) I don’t remember me taking this pic. It isn’t named in a way my cameras name photos. During the transition from Desktop to Bella, all pictures happened to be unceremoniously dumped into one folder. So I’m not sure who took this, sadly. All I know is it’s from one of my eleven other batch mates. Here’s the tale –

I love it so much that I’ve extended it from just one post on Fridays to three posts over the weekend! :) Show and Tell SATurdays is where I show a photo and tell the story behind, or related to it. Sunday Sevens is where I explore a favourite format of mine – lists. Both of these posts will (try to) stick to the theme set by the weekly challenge. This picture was taken during the Survey Camp I wrote about in last week’s Show and Tell. I don’t remember telling you how scorchingly hot it was in that post. Let me tell you now – It was scorchingly hot! And how! It was only February, summer was only just setting in, and we were barely 65 kms away from my much cooler hometown. That is why we’re all so covered up. We were forced to quit work by 1 in the afternoon. Despite how incredibly covered-up and sunscreen-ed we were, most of us were super tanned in just five days.

(Apparently, scorchingly isn’t a real word. There is a red underline under all my scorchingly-es :P But it is a real word! I am 99.99% sure.)

So yes, on one of those five scorchingly hot days, on our way down from the hill, we saw KT, a close friend of mine from the other batch, talking to DD (see last SAT to know more about him :) ). I just love how the totally stray dog (probably the stray-est dog in the world. This is the middle of nowhere :P) is totally oblivious of the two humans, and vice-versa. This angle makes it look like KTs wearing a burqa! :)

If it weren’t for the greenery (and the small matter of the huge stone wall), it would have looked like it was taken in a desert. (Speaking of deserts, isn’t it amazing how it’s only one ‘s’ that seperates 45 degree celcius from 4 :P)

You see the cat-flap-ish openings at the bottom of the wall, it’s for drainage during the monsoons. In summers, it’s used for crossing from one side of the wall to the other :P We had to cross often, and it was the shortest way across.

There are so many unusual pictures from this camp. Most of them involve my friends, so I didn’t want to post without asking them first :)
